In Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language, The most basic materials constitute reading texts and reading books that support and complement these texts. Reading texts and reading books that support and complement these texts are important to acquire other language skills as well as reading-comprehension skills.In this article, for the teaching Turkish as a foreign language; importance, effectiveness, sufficiency and qualities of the reading texts and the reading books have been mentioned. In this direction, in Gazi University Turkish Language Teaching Center, Questionnaires were given to the students learning Turkish about the effects and competence of reading texts and reading books. Survey data were analyzed by SPSS program. According to the results, it has been revealed what kind of approaches should be taken to create a reading text and reading books that supports learning foreign Language.In Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language, the qualities of reading texts are revealed and It has been stated that it is necessary to create appropriate auxiliary reading books. The qualifications that should be found in the books are stated in the article. This subject, since it is a subject that needs to be constantly taken into consideration.,it is thought to be useful for the teaching Turkish as foreign language.
