PROSE OF OKCUZADE MEHMED SHAHI

Abstract

Classical Turkish literature developed two branches, consisting of prose and verse; however, in general, verse has been the respected one. Such that, history books, advice studies, mystical artifacts, glossaries, poets biographies which enter the field of prose are even written in verse. But, this does not mean significant work is not given or prominent personalities are not educated in the field of prose. While this literature brings up great poets such as Fuzuli, Baki and Nedim; it has also seen significant prose writers like Sinan Pasa, Veysi and Nergisi. Also, one of the most important personalities in the field of prose is Okcuzade Mehmed Shahi. His prose is discussed in the article.

OKÇUZÂDE MEHMED ŞÂHÎ’NİN NESRİ

Abstract

Klâsik Türk edebiyatı nazım ve nesir olmak üzere iki koldan gelişmiş; fakat itibar gören genelde nazım olmuştur. Öyle ki nesrin sahasına giren tarihler, nasihatnâmeler, tasavvufî eserler, lûgatler hatta şuarâ tezkireleri bile nazmen de yazılmıştır. Fakat bu, nesir alanında kayda değer eser verilmediği yahut önemli şahsiyetler yetişmediği anlamına gelmemektedir. Bu edebiyat, bir yandan Fuzûlî, Bâkî ve Nedim gibi büyük şairler yetiştirirken diğer yandan Sinan Paşa, Veysî ve Nergisî gibi önemli nâsirler görmüştür. Nesir sahasındaki önemli şahsiyetlerden biri de Okçuzâde Mehmed Şâhî’dir. Bu makalede onun nesri ele alınmıştır.
