UTILIZATION OF THE SUNFLOWER ETHYL ESTER IN DIESEL ENGINE AS ALTERNATIVE FUEL

Abstract

ABSTRACT

The world energy requirements are usually provided from conventional sources. Petroleum consumption has an important place in these sources. Most of world petroleum production is used in internal combustion engines. With recent increases in petroleum prices and uncertainties concerning petroleum availability, there is interest in vegetable oil fuels for diesel engines. In this study, Engine performance, smoke level, the effect of advance time on the performance and noise level was examined, in comparison diesel fuel with sunflower ethyl ester. Results have shown that ethyl ester as fuel has similarities with the diesel fuel and may be used as an alternative fuel in the future.

DİZEL MOTORLARINDA ALTERNATİF YAKIT OLARAK ETİL ESTERİN KULLANIMI

Abstract

Dünya karşılanmaktadır. Petrol ise bu kaynaklar arasında önemli yer tutmaktadır. Üretilen petrolün önemli bir kısmı ise içten yanmalı motorlarda kullanılmaktadır. Petrol fiyatlarının artması ve petrolün bulunmasının zorlaşması, dizel motorları için bitkisel yağları ilginç hale getirmiştir. Bu çalışmada Ayçiçek yağı etil esteri 4 zamanlı, direk enjeksiyonlu ve tek silindirli bir dizel motorunda kullanılarak motor performansı, duman koyuluğu, avansa bağlı moment değişimi ve ses seviyesi dizel yakıt ile karşılaştırmalı olarak incelenmiştir. Elde edilen sonuçlar etil ester yakıtının, dizel yakıtına yakın özellikler gösterdiğini ve gelecekte alternatif yakıt kullanılabileceğini göstermiştir
