Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement: Gazi University Journal of Science Part A: Engineering and Innovation is committed to maintaining high standards of publication ethics, research integrity, transparency, and responsible scholarly publishing. The journal follows internationally recognized principles of publication ethics and relevant guidance provided by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
All authors, reviewers, editors, and other parties involved in the publication process are expected to act with integrity, fairness, confidentiality, transparency, and accountability.
Article Submission and Technical Requirements: Submitted articles must be prepared in MS Office Word format in accordance with the journal’s Article Writing Rules. Articles submitted in other formats will not be accepted. This technical requirement concerns the journal’s submission and editorial workflow and does not restrict the open-access status of published articles.
The following four (4) files must be uploaded during article submission:
1. Manuscript Template ( 📝 Manuscript Template.docx )
The manuscript must be prepared using the journal’s Manuscript Template and submitted without author names or other identifying information. Manuscripts not prepared using the required template will not be accepted for editorial processing.
2. Title Page ( 📝 Title Page.docx )
The Title Page must include the article title, abstract, keywords, the corresponding author’s contact e-mail address, and the names, institutional addresses, and ORCID numbers of all authors.
3. Licensing and Open Access Declaration ( 📝 Licensing and Open Access Declaration Form.docx )
Authors retain copyright in their manuscripts. Gazi University Journal of Science Part A: Engineering and Innovation is a fully open-access journal.
All accepted articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license.
By signing the Licensing and Open Access Declaration Form, authors grant the journal a non-exclusive license to publish, reproduce, distribute, and make the article available under the applicable Creative Commons license. Copyright ownership and intellectual property rights remain with the authors.
The CC BY 4.0 license permits third parties to share and adapt the work, including for commercial purposes, provided that appropriate credit is given to the original author(s) and the source, a link to the license is provided, and any changes made are indicated.
4. Similarity and Plagiarism Policy
Submitted manuscripts undergo similarity screening using iThenticate as part of the journal’s editorial quality-control process.
The journal applies the following similarity thresholds as screening criteria:
- Overall similarity: maximum 20%;
- Single-source similarity: maximum 4%;
- Overall similarity, including references, figure and table captions, and the article template: maximum 30%.
Manuscripts exceeding these thresholds will not be accepted for publication.
Authors are required to check the similarity rate using iThenticate before submission and upload the corresponding similarity report. Similarity screening may also be conducted after revision.
Similarity scores are screening indicators and do not, by themselves, constitute evidence of plagiarism. The editorial team evaluates the source, nature, extent, and context of detected overlap before making an editorial decision.
Peer Review and Submission Workflow
Submissions are limited to MS Word (.docx) format.
Manuscripts that pass the initial technical and editorial screening are evaluated through a double-blind peer-review process. The identities of authors and reviewers are kept confidential.
Each manuscript is evaluated by at least two independent external expert reviewers. If the reviewers reach a substantially divided decision, such as acceptance and rejection, the manuscript may be referred to a third independent external reviewer.
The peer-review process is conducted to support an objective and independent scholarly evaluation.
