Abstract

ZA alloy powders having different compositions were prepared by mechanical alloying in a spex mill. The mechanical alloying was applied 5 to 8 h and the ball to powder weight ratio was kept at 10:1 by weight. The mechanical milled/alloyed powders were warm-compacted at 320 °C and were sintered at the same temperature for 2 h. After the sintering process, the dry sliding wear test of the ZA alloys were conducted on a pin on disc wear testing machine. The wear load, the sliding speed and total sliding distance were sustained at 10 N, 1 m/s and 600 m respectively for all specimens. The Vickers hardness values of the ZA alloys varied from ~78 HV to ~145 HV depending on the increase in Aluminum content; however these values were steady by increasing milling time. It was seen that the wear volume rate and the sliding coefficient decreased as a consequence of increasing Aluminum content and hardness

MEKANİK ALAŞIMLAMA İLE ÜRETİLMİŞ ÇİNKO-ALÜMİNYUM (ZA) ALAŞIMLARININ KURU SÜRTÜNMELİ AŞINMA DAVRANIŞLARININ İNCELENMESİ

Abstract

Bu çalışmada, farklı bileşimlere sahip ZA alaşımları spex tipi öğütücüde mekanik alaşımlama (MA) ile üretilmiştir. MA işlemlerinde, 10:1 bilya toz oranı (% ağırlık) ve 5-8 saat MA süreleri kullanılmıştır. Mekanik alaşımlanmış tozlar 320 °C sıcaklıkta sıcak şekillendirildikten sonra, aynı sıcaklıkta 2 saat sürede sinterlenmiştir. Sinterlenen numunelerin yüzeyleri hazırlandıktan sonra, aşınma testleri yapılmıştır. Aşınma testlerinde pin-on-disk tipi standart aşınma ünitesi kullanılmıştır. Aşınma testlerinde 1msn-1 kayma hızı, 10 N yük ve 600 m kayma mesafesi test edilmiştir. Yapılan çalışmalar sonucunda, ZA alaşımlarında Al miktarı arttıkça sertliğin 78 HV ile 145 HV arttığı gözlenmiştir. Ayrıca, aşınma testleri sonucunda numunelerde, Al miktarındaki artışa bağlı olarak hacim kaybının ve sürtünme katsayısının azaldığı belirlenmiştir.
