Yeni Medyada Şiddetin Mizahi Temsili

Abstract

Bu çalışma, yeni medya platformlarında mizahın şiddeti nasıl temsil ettiğini ve bu temsillerin toplumsal algılar üzerindeki etkilerini analiz etmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Türkçe stand-up programlarında şiddet temsillerinin nasıl şekillendiği ve bu temsillerin toplumsal önyargıları nasıl etkilediği incelenmiştir. Tematik içerik analizi yöntemiyle yürütülen araştırmada, YouTube platformunda yayımlanan on farklı stand-up gösterisi analiz edilmiş, tematik kodlama uygulanmış ve elde edilen veriler tematik analiz matrisi ile organize edilmiştir. Analiz sonucunda toplam on üç farklı şiddet türüne ulaşılmış, en sık temsil edilen şiddet türlerinin sembolik şiddet (%12,29) ve toplumsal şiddet (%11,26) olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Çalışmada kadınlar (%20), alt sosyoekonomik gruplar (%18) ve köylülere (%15) yönelik yönelik mizahi anlatımların, toplumsal önyargı ve ayrımcı söylemleri yeniden üretmektedir. Çalışma, mizahın eleştirel bir araç olma potansiyeline sahip olmasına rağmen, çoğu zaman şiddeti normalleştirici bir işlev üstlendiğini ortaya koymaktadır. Tekrar, ironi ve abartı gibi tekniklerle şiddetin estetize edilmesi, izleyicilerin bu tür davranışları sorgulamadan içselleştirmesine neden olmaktadır. Sonuç olarak, mizahi içeriklerin toplumsal normları eleştirme kapasitesinin sınırlı kaldığı, aksine var olan önyargıları pekiştirdiği görülmüştür. Bu bağlamda çalışma, yeni medya ortamlarında şiddet temsillerinin daha bilinçli bir perspektifle ele alınması gerektiğine dikkat çekmektedir.

The Humorous Representation of Violence in New Media

Abstract

This study aims to analyze how humor represents violence on new media platforms and how these representations influence societal perceptions. It examines how violence is portrayed in Turkish stand-up programs and its impact on social prejudices. Using thematic content analysis, ten different stand-up performances published on YouTube were analyzed, thematic coding was applied, and the data were organized using a thematic analysis matrix. The analysis identified thirteen different types of violence, with symbolic violence (12.29%) and social violence (11.26%) being the most frequently represented forms. The study found that humorous narratives targeting women (20%), lower socioeconomic groups (18%), and rural populations (15%) contribute to the reproduction of social prejudices and discriminatory discourse. Although humor has the potential to be a critical tool, the study reveals that it often functions to normalize violence. Techniques such as repetition, irony, and exaggeration aestheticize violence, leading audiences to internalize these behaviors without questioning them. Consequently, the study concludes that humorous content has a limited capacity to critique social norms and instead reinforces existing biases. In this context, the research emphasizes the need for a more conscious approach to representations of violence in new media environments.
