The Development of Naval Warfare from a Technological Perspective at the Dawn of the “New Generation of Warfare”

Abstract

The primary objective of this study is to examine the impact of technology on naval warfare, with particular attention to its vital role in the development of warships. The Navy’s high reliance on technology stems from its greater emphasis on platforms and equipment compared to the Army. As before, in today’s five operational domains, often combined with artificial intelligence, technology remains a critical factor in improving the effectiveness of naval operations. Given the multifaceted nature of naval warfare, this study takes a macro-level approach, using the innovative “wave” framework developed by Vincent P. O’Hara and Leonard R. Heinz to comprehensively examine how technology influences naval warfare and warship development.

“Yeni Nesil” Savaşın Şafağında Teknoloji Perspektifinden Deniz Harbinin Gelişimi

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın temel amacı, teknolojinin deniz harbi üzerindeki etkisini, özellikle de harp gemilerinin gelişimindeki merkezî rolünü odağa alarak incelemektir. Donanmanın teknolojiye olan yüksek bağımlılığı, orduya kıyasla platform ve ekipmanlara daha fazla önem vermesinden kaynaklanmaktadır. Daha önce de olduğu gibi günümüzün beş boyutlu harekât ortamında da teknoloji, genellikle yapay zekâ ile birlikte donanmanın operasyonel etkinliğini artırmada kritik bir faktör olmaya devam etmektedir. Deniz harbinin çok yönlü doğası göz önüne alındığında, bu çalışma makro düzeyde bir yaklaşım benimsemeyerek teknolojinin deniz harekâtını ve harp gemisi gelişimini nasıl etkilediğini kapsamlı bir şekilde ele almak için Vincent P. O’Hara ve Leonard R. Heinz tarafından geliştirilen yenilikçi “dalga” çerçevesini kullanmaktadır.
