OTANTİKLİK VE OTANTİK BİREY BAĞLAMINDA KASAP ÇIRAĞI ROMANI

Abstract

Bu çalışma, artalanında Varoluşçu düşüncenin merkezinde konumlanan otantiklik ve otantik bireyi temel alarak Patrick McCabe’in Kasap Çırağı yapıtındaki ana karakterinin eylemlerini ve zihin dünyasını incelemeyi amaçlar. Yüz yıllık bir düşünce serüveni takip edilen çalışmada modern anlamda Varoluşçuluğun ve onun çekirdek değeri varsayılan otantikliğin gelişim seyri Søren Kierkegaard’dan başlayarak kronolojik sırayla Albert Camus’de sonlanır. Bu gelişim çizgisine sadık kalınan artalanda bahsi geçen düşünürlerin/yazarların eserlerinde otantikliğe hangi değerleri atfettikleri ve hangi varoluş biçimlerini onaylayıp reddettikleri, seçilen yapıtın şimdiye değin bu eksende değerlendirilmemiş olduğu gerçeği de göz önünde bulundurularak irdelenir. Çalışma da ayrıca Kasap Çırağı’ndaki ana karakter Francie’nin katı muhafazakârlıkla yoğrulan ve vasatın egemenliğini inatla sürdüren toplumuna karşı giriştiği kendi benini koruma çabası vurgulanmıştır. Nihai olarak bu çalışma, seçilen eser özelinde otantiklik ve otantik birey/kahramanla eşleşen kişinin kendine has olma istenci ve başka türlü olmama direncini faklı görünümleriyle irdeler.
