Our ethnographic works blended with a great many cultures having lived in Anatolian lands comprise our richest samples in our traditional culture. Marriage habits and customs having a significant place in every community are of great importance in our culture as well. The tradition of trousseau within our marriage habits and our customs have a cultural richness and application each. The girl trousseau which starts in their early ages is prepared neatly by herself and close relatives until she becomes a young woman and leaves home. The production of a great many things in our trousseau tradition take place in the rich samples of knitting technique.
Laces and embroideries knitted with needle, crochet, needle, shuttle, hairpin techniques, which are in the class of fine knitting in hand knitting, are produced in three-dimensional, flat, narrow and wide forms.Determining these samples taking place in the field of knitting that require a special study with a different technique and carrying them to the future is of importance. In this study, the technical, color, motif and composition features of rich towel edge samples, which form a part of the dowry tradition in Gerede district of Bolu and are in the class of fine knits, were examined. Each product, together with the production technique, has been a factor in reflecting the aesthetic feelings and thoughts of the period when it was made together with the person who made it, for what purpose and for what purpose.
