Water has always been held sacred and respectful by the Turks. The fact that water is "elixir of life", the pray of "Be Saint like Water", and the tradition of pouring ablution water for guests and elders in a ewer-basin reflect Turkish-Islamic culture. The fact that one of the four elements in the creation of the human body is water and this element symbolizes the most beautiful habits has increased the importance of water. The cult of water has a special importance in the holiday of Nevruz-new day-Spring, which is celebrated in the Turkish world. It is known that the most important motif, which is the symbolism of the water cult in the palace and folk arts, which is our cultural heritage, is the ewer. Carpets and kilims come first among the textile materials, which are the important group of Turkish-Islamic ethnography. The ewer motif is a frequently encountered decoration on prayer carpets and rugs. The ewer motifs were also embroidered on the peşkir and money bags found in the traditional girls' dowry. Although the motifs of the ewer are generally plain, there are also some very ornate ones.
