Social Sciences Journal of Harran University (e-ISSN: 3108-3668) is the periodical, peer-reviewed, open-access, official scientific publication organ of Harran University. Our journal, which started its publication life in 2025, has been published as free and open access to the public; and as of the 1st issue of 2026, it has also included the CC-BY-NC-ND 4.0 license in all published articles. It is published twice a year, in June and December, in Turkish or English.
It is essential that the studies to be published in our journal are original, prepared using appropriate research methods and models, and have not been previously published in another venue, to the extent that they fill a gap in the relevant field. In addition to these basic research articles, critical reviews that evaluate published studies with new and noteworthy perspectives are also included.
Additionally, a wide range of academic content consisting of conceptual and theoretical discussions, unpublished conference papers, biographies, reviews contributing to the literature, scientific translations, and book reviews is accepted.
All studies submitted to the journal must be original and must not have been previously published elsewhere. The exception to this rule is oral presentations or posters presented as abstracts at scientific congresses. It must be stated if your article was previously presented as an oral presentation or a poster at a scientific congress. This information must be added to the cover page or the relevant field in the online article submission system, and details such as the name, date, and location of the congress where the abstract was published must definitely be specified. If the article is produced from a postgraduate thesis, its date and thesis number (National Thesis Center) must be specified. All ethical, scientific, and legal responsibility for the published works belongs to the authors.
General Rules All studies to be submitted to the journal must be in Microsoft Word format. All figures, graphics, and tables together with the article text must be submitted electronically as a single file or in accordance with the instructions. The title and short title of the article must be located on the main document page. Both titles must be written in Turkish and English. Titles will be left-aligned, Book Antiqua font, 12 points, and bold. The first letter of words, excluding conjunctions, will be capitalized. Titles must be numbered according to their levels (such as 1., 2.). Subsequently, if there are subheadings, they must be continued (such as 1.1., 1.2.). The names, surnames, institutions they work for, e-mail addresses, and ORCID ID numbers of all authors who contributed to the study must be clearly written in the text. In English articles, if deemed necessary, a professional translation-certified language editing document may be requested for linguistic check. Since a double-blind peer review process is applied in our journal, no information that would reveal the identity of the author(s), such as name, institution, acknowledgment, etc., must be included in sections other than the cover page. Our journal accepts articles in the following article types;
Original Research / Review
· Papers must be prepared in Word format, on A4 size page, leaving 2.50 cm margins from top, bottom, right, and left, in Book Antiqua font, 12 points, justified, and with 1.15 line spacing.
· Turkish and English titles will be left-aligned, 14 points, Book Antiqua font, not exceeding 15 words, and the first letter of every word except conjunctions will be capitalized, and the line spacing will be 1.
· Turkish and English abstracts are unstructured and must be uploaded as a maximum of 150-250 words. They must be in Book Antiqua font, justified, and 10 points.
· Keywords must be listed separately below the Turkish and English abstract texts; they must be written as a minimum of three and a maximum of five words, separated from each other by commas. In Turkish articles: headings must be structured. Turkish studies including appendices must be prepared not to exceed 9000 words, and English studies not to exceed 11,000 words. The number of tables or figures must be a maximum of XX[ES1]. Tables and figures must definitely be named, numbered according to the order of appearance in the text, and specified at the end of the relevant sentence where they appear in the text. Tables (Table 1., Table 2., ...) and figures (Figure 1., Figure 2.) must be shown with consecutive numbers. Table titles must be above the table, and figure titles must be below the figure. Table and figure titles will be in Book Antiqua font, 11 points, and left-aligned. The number of references must be a maximum of xx[ES2].
· While writing references, they must be written in accordance with the writing rules below.
· They will be justified, Book Antiqua font, 11 points, and the line spacing will be 1.
· In-text citations must be indicated with a superscript immediately after the period at the end of the sentence.
· In case of citation to more than one source, numbers must be separated by commas (,); for consecutive three or more sources, the range must be indicated with a hyphen (-). [Example: (5, 7, 9) or (12-15)].
References
Reference citations in our journal must be given based on the 2nd Edition of the Isnad Citation System. Footnote Numbering: Footnote numbers are given at the end of the sentence, after the period. First Use and Subsequent Uses: When a reference appears for the first time, it is given with all its information (Full Citation). When the same reference appears subsequently, it is given in an abbreviated (Short Citation) form. Author Name: In the footnote, first the name then the surname is written. In the bibliography, first the surname then the name is written and a comma is placed between them.
