Deprem Sonrası Hemşirelik Öğrencilerinde Eko-Anksiyete ve Travma Sonrası Stres Bozukluğu: Kesitsel Bir Çalışma

Abstract

Amaç: Bu çalışmada hemşirelik öğrencilerinde 6 Şubat depremlerinin ardından travma sonrası stres bozukluğu (TSSB) ve eko-anksiyete düzeyinin belirlenmesi, ayrıca eko-anksiyete ile TSSB arasındaki ilişkinin belirlenmesi amaçlandı. Yöntem: Kesitsel tipte planlanan bu çalışmanın verileri 10 Aralık 2023–10 Ocak 2024 tarihleri arasında toplandı. Deprem bölgesinde bulunan bir devlet üniversitesinin hemşirelik bölümünde öğrenim gören 235 katılımcı çalışmanın örneklemini oluşturdu. Çalışmanın evreni bölümde kayıtlı 304 öğrenciden oluştu ve örneklem, evreni bilinen örnekleme yöntemi ile belirlendi. Veri toplama araçları olarak ‘Travma Sonrası Stres Bozukluğu (TSSB) Kısa Ölçeği’ ve ‘Eko Anksiyete Ölçeği’ kullanıldı. Bulgular: Katılımcıların deprem sonrası TSSB düzeylerinin orta düzeyin üzerinde olduğu ve öğrenciler arasında TSSB yaygınlığının %37 olduğu saptandı. Katılımcıların eko-anksiyete düzeylerinin ise orta seviyede olduğu bulundu. Eko-anksiyetenin TSSB üzerinde pozitif yönde ve anlamlı bir etkisinin olduğu, TSSB varyansının %50,1’inin eko-anksiyete tarafından açıklandığı belirlendi (R=0,708; R2=0,501; p<0,001). Sonuç: Deprem gibi doğal bir afet sonucunda eko-anksiyete ve travma sonrası stres belirtileri yaşayan öğrencilere yönelik uzmanlar tarafından kişiye ve cinsiyete özel psikolojik destek ve başa çıkma stratejilerinin sağlanması önerilmektedir.

Eco-Anxiety and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Among Nursing Students After an Earthquake: A Cross-Sectional Study

Abstract

Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the level of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and eco-anxiety in nursing students after the February 6 earthquake, and to determine the relationship between eco-anxiety and PTSD. Methods: The data for this cross-sectional study were collected between December 10, 2023, and January 10, 2024. A total of 235 students enrolled in the nursing program at a state university located in the earthquake-affected region constituted the study sample. The population consisted of 304 students registered in the program, and the sample was determined using a known-population sampling method. Data collection instruments included the Brief Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Scale and the Eco-Anxiety Scale. Results: It was found that the participants' post-earthquake PTSD levels were above the moderate level and the prevalence of PTSD was 37%. The eco-anxiety levels of the participants were found to be moderate. It was determined that eco-anxiety had a positive and significant effect on PTSD and 50.1% of PTSD variance was explained by eco-anxiety (R=0.708, R2=0.501, p=0.000). Conclusion: It is recommended that experts provide individual and gender-specific psychological support and coping strategies for students who experience eco-anxiety and post-traumatic stress symptoms as a result of a natural disaster such as an earthquake.
