KOAH’LI BİREYLERDE DİSPNE, SOSYAL DESTEK VE YAŞAM KALİTESİNİN BELİRLENMESİ

Abstract

Amaç: Bu çalışma, KOAH’lı bireylerin dispne, sosyal destek, yaşam kalitesi düzeylerini ve dispne, sosyal destek ve yaşam kalitesi arasındaki ilişkiyi belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır.
Materyal ve Metot: Tanımlayıcı ve ilişki arayıcı tipteki bu çalışma, 31 Mayıs 2021-15 Mart 2022 tarihleri arasında bir eğitim ve araştırma hastanesinin göğüs hastalıkları ve göğüs cerrahisi servislerinde tedavi gören, 181 KOAH’lı bireyle yürütülmüştür. Çalışmada veriler, Hasta Tanıtım Formu, KOAH Değerlendirme Testi (CAT), Modifiye Borg Skalası (MBS), Çok Boyutlu Algılanan Sosyal Destek Ölçeği (ÇBASDÖ) ve St. George Solunum Anketi (SGRQ) kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Post Hoc Power analiz sonucuna göre çalışmanın gücü %99 olarak belirlenmiştir. İstatistiksel anlamlılık düzeyi olarak p<0,05 kabul edilmiştir.
Bulgular: KOAH’lı bireylerin %82,9’unun erkek, %69,1’inin evli ve yaş ortalamasının 67,9±9,1 olduğu saptanmıştır. Bireylerin CAT puan ortalaması 30,6±7,2; MBS puan ortalaması 7,6±2,1; ÇBASDÖ puan ortalamaları 50,9±18, 6 ve SGRQ puan ortalamaları 75,9±13,3’tür. ÇBASDÖ ile SGRQ toplam puan ortalamaları arasında anlamlı, negatif yönlü ve orta düzey ilişki olduğu saptanmıştır (r=-0,4; p<0,01).
Sonuç: Bireylerin dispne şiddetinin çok ciddi, algıladıkları sosyal desteğin orta düzeyde ve yaşam kalitesi düzeylerinin düşük olduğu bulunmuştur. Sağlık durumu, dispne şiddeti ve algılanan sosyal destek yaşam kalitesi düzeyi ile ilişkilidir, KOAH’lı bireylerde bu durumların değerlendirilmesi, tedavi ve bakıma entegre edilmesi önerilmektedir.

DETERMINATION OF DYSPNEA, SOCIAL SUPPORT AND QUALITY OF LIFE IN INDIVIDUALS WITH COPD

Abstract

Objective: This study was conducted to determine the dyspnea, social support, quality of life levels of individuals with COPD and the relationship between dyspnea, social support and quality of life.
Materials and Methods: This descriptive and relationship-seeking study was conducted with 181 individuals with COPD who were treated at the pulmonology and thoracic surgery campus of a training and research hospital between May 31, 2021 and March 15, 2022. In the study, data were collected using Patient Identification Form, COPD Assessment Test (CAT), Modified Borg Scale (MBS), Multidimensional Perceived Social Support Scale (MPSSS) and St. George’s Respiratory Questionnaire (SGRQ). According to the results of Post Hoc Power analysis, the strength of the study was determined as 99%. The statistical significance level was accepted as p<0.05.
Results: It was determined that 82.9% of the individuals with COPD were male, 69.1% were married and the average age was 67.9±9.1 years. The average CAT score of individuals is 30.6±7.2; MBS average score is 7.6±2.1; the average scores of the MPSSS are 50.9±18.6 in total and SGRQ score averages are 75.9±13.3 in total. It was found that there was a significant, negative and mid-level relationship between the average scores of MPSSS and SGRQ (r=-0.4; p<0.01).
Conclusion: It was revealed that the dyspnea severity was very serious, the social support they perceived was at a moderate level and the quality of life levels were low. Health status, dyspnea severity and perceived social support are associated with the level of quality of life, and it is recommended that these conditions be evaluated and integrated into treatment and care in individuals with COPD.
