Responsibilities of Authors

1. All authors must significantly contribute to the research.
2. All data in the article must be real and original.
3. All authors are obliged to ensure the correction of errors and, when necessary, the retraction of the publication.
4. The bibliography list must be complete.
5. Plagiarism and fraudulent data should not be included.
6. Attempting to publish the same research in more than one journal should not be made.
7. Scientific research and publication ethics must be complied with.
8. Corresponding authors must declare conflicts of interest and disputes. Financial and all kinds of contributions, support, and funds received for the study that is the subject of the submitted article must be specified (including explanations on how and at what stage of the study this support was received). If no support has been received, it must also be declared. Authors, editors, and reviewers must notify the Editor-in-Chief in writing if they experience any conflict of interest that could affect decision-making processes.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) 

Use Policy for Authors In line with the principles and recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), Harran İlahiyat Journal recognizes that the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in academic writing and research is gradually increasing. However, to ensure transparency, accountability, and integrity, the use of AI must comply with ethical publishing standards. Therefore, authors must adhere to the following rules:

• Artificial Intelligence Tools Cannot Be Listed as Authors 

  Follows COPE's view that AI tools cannot fulfill the role of an author and therefore cannot be listed as an author in any submission. Only individuals who meet the authorship criteria (e.g., significant contribution, accountability, and approval of the final version) should be named as authors.

• Disclosure of Artificial Intelligence Use is Mandatory 

  Authors using AI tools must transparently explain how and which AI tool was used in the Methods section and in the cover letter of the article. Undisclosed or unethical use of artificial intelligence (AI) may lead to the rejection of the article or the retraction of the published article. This policy will be periodically reviewed and updated in line with COPE guidance and evolving best practices.

Actions Contrary to Scientific Research and Publication Ethics Plagiarism: 

Presenting others' ideas, methods, data, applications, writings, figures, or works partially or entirely as one's own work without citing the owners in accordance with scientific rules.

Forgery: Producing data not based on research, editing or changing the presented or published work based on unreal data, reporting or publishing them, showing an unperformed research as if it were performed. 

Distortion: Falsifying research records and obtained data, showing methods, devices, and materials not used in research as if they were used, not evaluating data unsuitable for the research hypothesis, playing with data and/or results to adapt them to relevant theory or assumptions, falsifying or shaping research results in line with the interests of supported persons and organizations.

Duplicate Publication: Presenting multiple works containing the same results of a research as separate works in associate professorship exam evaluations and academic promotions. Slicing: Presenting the results of a research as separate works in associate professorship exam evaluations and academic promotions by inappropriately dividing them into parts in a way that disrupts the integrity of the research and publishing multiple times without citing each other. Unfair Authorship: Including persons without active contribution among authors, not including persons with active contribution among authors, changing author order groundlessly and inappropriately, removing the names of active contributors from the work during publication or in subsequent editions, using one's influence to be included among authors despite having no active contribution.

Other Types of Ethical Violations: 

Not explicitly stating the supporting individuals, institutions, or organizations and their contributions to the research in publications of research conducted with support, not complying with ethical rules in research on humans and animals, not respecting patient rights in publications, sharing information in a work assigned to review as a referee with others before publication, using resources, venues, opportunities, and devices provided or allocated for scientific research out of purpose, making completely groundless, inappropriate, and intentional accusations of ethical violations (YÖK Scientific Research and Publication Ethics Directive, Article 8). 

Responsibilities of Reviewers

1. Evaluations must be impartial.
2. Reviewers must not have a conflict of interest with the research, authors, and/or research funders. In case of such a conflict of interest, withdrawal from the review process should be requested.
3. When a suspicion of a conflict of interest regarding the author arises, the journal editor should be informed.
4. Relevant published but uncited works should be indicated.
5. Information regarding the reviewed academic study must be kept confidential.
6. The evaluation file containing corrections and recommendations for the evaluated article should be uploaded. If sufficient explanation is provided in the evaluation form, the file may not be uploaded.

Editorial Responsibilities

1. Editors have full responsibility and authority to accept or reject a study.
2. Editors should not have a conflict of interest regarding the studies they accept or reject.
3. Only studies that will contribute to the field should be accepted.
4. When errors are found, the publication of corrections or retraction of the publication should be supported.
5. Names of reviewers and authors should be kept confidential, and plagiarism and fraudulent data should be prevented.

Publication Policy 

Harran İlahiyat Journal applies the publication principles stipulated and accepted by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association (OASPA), and Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI) organizations. In addition, Harran İlahiyat Journal applies the publication principles set by DergiPark under the umbrella of TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM, in which it is located.

General Principles

1. Studies submitted to Harran İlahiyat Journal are expected to be original and present new and noteworthy views in the relevant field. For studies to be published in Harran İlahiyat Journal, they must not have been published elsewhere, even in a shorter or broader form, or be in the evaluation process.
2. For articles containing personal information obtained through data collection tools such as scales, surveys, interviews, experiments, and observations, the ethics committee approval document obtained from the author's university must be uploaded to the system; the ethics approval committee name, date, and issue number must be mentioned on both the first page of the Introduction section and in the Method section of the article.
3. The first author of original articles must have passed at least the doctoral comprehensive exam.
4. Only one study of an author is taken into evaluation in the same publication period.
5. Papers previously published as proceedings are not accepted as articles.
6. In co-authored studies, the Authorship Contribution Declaration Form must be uploaded to the system.
7. If the article is derived from a thesis, this must be specified, and it is essential that such studies are uploaded to the system as co-authored with the advisor.
8. If any financial support was received at any stage of the study or if the author(s) have any financial or moral relationship with any person or institution that could affect their academic objectivity in this study, the Conflict of Interest Declaration Form must be filled out and uploaded to the system.
9. In symposium/congress review type studies, the evaluated scientific meeting must have been organized within the last 2 years, the study should not exceed 3,000 words, and must contain an abstract of 150-250 words. A maximum of 2 studies of this type are published in each issue.
10. In book review type studies, the reviewed work must have been published within the last 5 years, the submitted study should not exceed 3,000 words, and must contain an abstract of 150-250 words. A maximum of 2 studies of this type are published in each issue.
11. In translation type studies, if the translated work is an article published in an academic journal, it must have received at least five citations in its own language. If the translated work is a classic or a manuscript, the translation must include an introduction section together with an abstract of 150-250 words; in the introduction section, why the translation is necessary, the importance and value of the translated work in its field, what the expected benefit from the translation is, and if the work has been translated before, why this translation is needed should be explained. Translation type studies cannot exceed 10,000 words including the abstract. A maximum of 2 studies of this type are published in each issue.
12. Authors are obligated to provide their institution, title, and other personal information correctly and to notify the journal in a timely manner of any changes in this information. Otherwise, they are responsible for errors in personal information.
13. Valid for each published issue, articles whose author is a member of the journal board or a member of Harran İlahiyat Journal are allowed at a maximum of 25%; articles in a foreign language are allowed at a maximum of 20% in one language, and 30% in total; studies other than original articles are allowed at a maximum rate of 1/3 in total.
