Kur'an
(secular) has been used for different purposes since it has achieved its existence.
For Muslims, he has always been the source of moral and religious inspiration.
Muslim scholars have often dealt with the Qur'an as the basis of their own
legal and theological doctrine systems, and rarely for historical reasons
alone. However, the approach of the modern Western scholars (non-Muslim) to the
Qur'an is more historical. Qur'an was used by them as a source for the early
period of Islam, a source for Muhammad's teachings and details of his prophetic
career. In fact, the Qur'an was used as a source for the pre-Islamic religious
and social structure of the Arabs.
