The First Civil Opposition to Umayed Dnasty in Kufa: The Movement of Hucr b. Adiy

Abstract

When Muaviya b. Ebi Süfyan came into power as caliph, he started to curse Ali on the pulpit of the mosques during Friday pray in the various cities. Such a curse irritated several individuals in the society. The first reaction toward this attitude came from the friend of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), Hucr b. Adiy. But it is unfortunate that he was killed together with his some friends after this reaction/opposition. In fact, if such a Hucr’s reaction/movement is being searched from the beggining to its dramatic end, it will be evidently seen that it was far away from a simple sectial movement or an economic one as some scholars argued. On the other hand, this movement has not been organized before. In other words, it was far away from a plan or organization. That’s to say it was completely a normal/natural act. The leader of this movement, Hucr, didn’t aim whatever else apart from showing his personal reaction toward injustice. In short, such a complete civil movement has been destroyed utterly by Amevids. However, the killing of Hucr b. Adi and his friends didn’t give birth a useful result to Amevids as they expected. Conversely, it paved way to unfavourable one so as to what has been done these person didn’t only annoyed Kufe’s citizens but also it broke muslim’s heart in the entire muslim world.

Emevi İktidarına Karşı Kûfe’den İlk Sivil Muhalefet: Hucr b. Adiy Hareketi

Abstract

Muaviye b. Ebî Süfyan hilafet makamına geçtikten sonra islam aleminin muhtelif kentlerinde bulunan minberlerden Hz. Aliʹye lanet okutmaya başladı. Cuma günü cuma namazlarından sonra okunmakta olan bu lanetler halkta bir infiale neden oldu. Kufede buna ilk karşı koyan da Hz. peygamberin arkadaşlarında Hucr b. Adiy oldu. Hucr bu tepkisini dışa vurduktan sonra yakalananlar bir kaç arkadaşı ile birlikte öldürüldü. Hucr hareketi olarak tarihte yerini almış olan hareketinin başlamasından bitişine kadar gelişen olaylar zinciri ciddi bir şekilde incelendiğinde görüleceği gibi mezhepsel bir duruştan ya da, bazı ilim adamlarının iddia ettiği, ekonomik bazı beklentilerden çok uzak olduğu görülecektir. Dahası bu hareket, asla önceden planlanmamıştır, tamamen doğal olarak gelişmiş olup organize bir hareket olmaktan da çok uzaktır. Hareketin lideri olarak gösterilen Hucr, haksızlığa karşı mücadele etmeye çalışmak dışında da bir başka amaca sahip değildir. Tamamen bir sivil muhalefet olan bu hareket, Emevîler tarafından acımasızca yok edilmiştir. Hucr b. Adî ve arkadaşlarının idam edilmeleri, Emevîlerin beklentilerinin aksine onların lehine değil, aleyhine bir sonuç vermiştir. Nitekim buinsanlara yapılanlar sadece Kûfe’de değil, İslam âleminin hemen hemen her yerinde yankı bulmuştur.
