PARENTIFICATION INVENTORY ADOLESCENT FORM VALIDITY AND RELIABILITY STUDY

Abstract

In this study, it is aimed to develop a measurement tool with high reliability and validity in order to determine the parentification levels of individuals between the ages of 13-18. The research was carried out with two different study groups consisting of students between the ages of 13-18 studying at various high schools in Hatay, the first for EFA and the second for CFA. The first study group consisted of 350 (244 female 106 male) high school students and the second study group consisted of 473 (325 female 147 male) high school students. In order to test the construct validity of the adolescent form of the Parentification Scale, exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis was used. The exploratory factor analysis (EFA) performed reveals that the scale consists of 29 items and 5 factors. It was determined that these five factors explained 60.053 % of the total variance. The Cronbach alpha internal consistency coefficients calculated for the sub-dimensions of the scale were .91 for perceived benefit from parentification, .77 for sibling-focused parentification, .83 for perceived unfairness from parentification, .78 for emotional parentification focused parents, and .72 for instrumental parentification focused parents. The results show that the five-factor Parentification Scale Adolescent Form can be used as a valid and reliable measurement tool in studies to determine the level of parenting of high school students in Turkey.

EBEVEYNLEŞME ÖLÇEĞİ ERGEN FORMU GEÇERLİK VE GÜVENİRLİK ÇALIŞMASI

Abstract

Bu çalışmada 13-18 yaş arasındaki bireylerin ebeveynleşme düzeylerini belirlemeye yönelik olarak, güvenirliği ve geçerliği yüksek bir ölçme aracı geliştirilmesi amaçlanmaktadır Araştırma, ilki AFA ve ikincisi DFA için Hatay’da çeşitli liselerde öğrenim gören 13-18 yaş arasındaki öğrencilerin meydana getirdiği iki farklı çalışma grubuyla yürütülmüştür. Birinci çalışma grubunu 350 (244 kadın 106 erkek) lise öğrencisi ve ikinci çalışma grubunu 473 (325 kadın 147 erkek) lise öğrencisi oluşmaktadır. Ebeveynleşme ölçeği ergen formunun yapı geçerliliğinin sınamak amacıyla açımlayıcı ve doğrulayıcı faktör analizinden yararlanılmıştır. Yapılan açımlayıcı faktör analizi (AFA) ölçeğin 29 madde ve 5 faktörden meydana geldiğini ortaya koymaktadır. Bu beş faktörün toplam varyansın %60,053’ünü açıkladığı belirlenmiştir. Ölçeğin alt boyutları için hesaplanan Cronbach alfa iç tutarlılık katsayıları ebeveynleşmeden algılanan yarar için .91, kardeş odaklı ebeveynleşme .77, ebeveynleşmeden algılanan adaletsizlik için .83, ebeveyne yönelik duygusal ebeveynleşme için .78 ve ebeveyne yönelik araçsal ebeveynleşme için .72’dir. Elde edilen sonuçlar beş faktörlü Ebeveynleşme Ölçeği Ergen Formu’nun Türkiye’de lise öğrencilerinin ebeveynleşme düzeyini belirlemeye yönelik yapılacak çalışmalarda geçerli ve güvenilir bir ölçme aracı kullanılabileceğini göstermektedir.
