Abstract
From the time when development economics has become a subdiscipline after the second World War until today, development economics has gained quite different sight. 1950’s and 1960’s traditional development literature’s definition of development and parallel to this, the policy recommendations it has put forward in order to cope with less development have gone under radical changes and thus development concept has been reevaluated under different perspectives. This study aims to clarify how the development literature progressed until today, which dilemmas it has faced and the new approaches to this literature. In other words, in this study the evolution of the development concept and development economics have been evaluated.

Abstract
Kalkınma iktisadı bir alt disiplin olarak ortaya çıktığı dönemden, bugüne, oldukça farklı bir nitelik kazanmıştır. 1950 - 1960’lı yılların “geleneksel kalkınma yaklaşımı”nın gelişmişlik kavramına bakış açısı ve buna paralel olarak az gelişmişlik problemini çözmek için ortaya attığı politika önermeleri radikal bir yeniden yapılanmaya uğramıştır. Bu çerçevede, çalışmada, kalkınma iktisadının doğuşundan günümüze kadar geçen sürede karşılaştığı problemleri ve yeni arayışları ortaya koymak amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda, özellikle “gelişme“ kavramının değişen yapısı ele alınmıştır. Diğer bir ifade ile, bu çalışmada kalkınma iktisadının ve gelişme kavramının evrimi incelenmiştir.
