Etik Konum Ölçeği Kısa Formu (EPQ-5): Geçerlilik, Güvenilirlik ve Ölçüm Değişmezliği Analizi

Abstract

Etik Konum Teorisi’ne göre bireylerin ahlaki yargıları ve davranışları, etik ideolojilerindeki farklılıklara göre şekillenmektedir. Bu teoriden hareketle, bireylerin etik ideolojilerini ölçebilmek amacıyla 1980 yılında Etik Konum Ölçeği (EPQ) geliştirilmiştir. Ancak yıllar itibariyle ölçeği kullanan çalışmaların bir kısmında, ölçeğin 2 boyutlu yapısının desteklenmediği, çok sayıda çalışmada ise düşük faktör yükleri sebebiyle ölçekten çıkarılan ifadeler olduğu görülmüştür. Bunun üzerine, ölçeği geliştiren Donelson R. Forsyth’ın da yazarı olduğu bir çalışmada (O’Boyle ve Forsyth, 2021), Etik Konum Ölçeği yeniden düzenlenmiş ve ölçeğin kısa formu oluşturulmuştur. Bu araştırmanın amacı, Etik Konum Ölçeği’nin Türkçe Kısa Formu’nun (EPQ-5) geçerliliğini ve güvenilirliğini analiz etmek ve ölçüm değişmezliğini test etmektir. Analiz sonucunda ölçeğin Türkçe formunun 2 boyutlu ve toplam 10 ifadeden oluşan yapısı doğrulanmıştır. Ayrıca ölçüm değişmezliği, cinsiyete dayalı çoklu grup doğrulayıcı faktör analizi ile test edilmiştir. Sonuçlara göre EPQ-5’in Türkçe formunun; şekilsel (biçimsel), metrik, skalar ve kısmi katı değişmezlik olmak üzere ölçüm değişmezliği koşullarını sağladığı görülmüştür. Dolayısıyla, EPQ-5'te yer alan idealizm ve görecilik boyutlarının, EPQ-5’in Türkçe formu kapsamında 5’er ifade ile ölçülebileceği sonucuna varılmıştır. Sonuç olarak, EPQ-5’in Türkçe formunun geçerli ve güvenilir bir ölçüm aracı olduğu tespit edilmiştir.

The Short Ethics Position Questionnaire (EPQ-5): Analysis of Validity, Reliability, and Measurement Invariance

Abstract

According to Ethics Position Theory, individuals' moral judgments and behaviors are shaped by differences in their ethical ideologies. Based on this theory, the Ethics Position Questionnaire (EPQ) was developed in 1980 to assess individuals' ethical ideologies. However, in some studies that have used the questionnaire over the years, it has been observed that the 2-dimensional structure of the questionnaire is not supported. Furthermore, in many studies, some items have been removed from the questionnaire due to low factor loadings. Thereupon, in a study (O’Boyle & Forsyth, 2021) co-authored by Donelson R. Forsyth, who developed the EPQ, the questionnaire was revised and referred to as the EPQ-5. This research aims to analyze the reliability, validity, and measurement invariance of the Turkish form of the Short Ethics Position Questionnaire (EPQ-5). As a result of the analysis, the 2-dimensional structure of the Turkish form of the questionnaire, consisting of a total of 10 statements, was confirmed. In addition, measurement invariance across gender was examined using multi-group confirmatory factor analysis. The results showed that the Turkish form of EPQ-5 satisfies all the conditions of measurement invariance, including configural, metric, scalar, and partial strict invariance. Therefore, it has been concluded that the dimensions of idealism and relativism in the EPQ-5 can be calculated using 5 items each for the Turkish form of the EPQ-5. Consequently, the Turkish form of EPQ-5 was found to be a valid and reliable measurement tool.
