- Appraisal by the Editor-in-Chief (EIC): After technical assessment editor in chief assess the paper, consider its scope, originality. The EIC may reject the paper at this stage.
- EIC assigns an Associate Editor (AE): This journal has associate editors. After technically and EIC assessment the paper is sent to AE, and the AE initiates the review process.
- Invitation to reviewers: The AE invites potential reviewers. The manuscript is sent to three independent reviewers under a full blind review. A double-blind review process is applied, where the reviewers’ identities are kept hidden from the authors, and the authors’ identities are concealed from the reviewers.
- Response to invitations: Potential reviewers assess the invitation based on their expertise, availability, then accept or decline.

Otherwise, they take detailed notes during subsequent readings to prepare a point-by-point review, which is submitted along with their recommendation (revise, accept, or reject).
- The AE evaluates the reviews: The AE considers all the returned reviews before deciding.
- The decision is communicated: The editor sends a decision email to the author, including any relevant reviewer comments.
