Paraneoplastic Hypercalcemia

Abstract

Paraneoplastic syndromes (PNS) occur in the body due to the indirect effects of neoplasia. Paraneoplastic hypercalcemia is mostly seen in cats and dogs with tumour. Anorexia, muscular weakness, depression, polydipsia, and polyuria were the most frequently observed clinical signs and physical findings. The diagnosis of hypercalcemia of malignancy depends on history, physical examination and blood tests. Diuresis, drug and fluid therapy were the mainstream of the threapy. Most patients have a good quality of life with the remission of the underlying tumour.

Kedi ve Köpeklerde Paraneoplastik Hiperkalsemi

Abstract

Paraneoplastik sendromlar tümörün uzağında, indirekt etkilere bağlı olarak şekillenirler. Paraneoplastik hiperkalsemi kedi ve köpeklerde çok sık karşımıza çıkar. Anoreksi, kas zayıflığı, depresyon, poliüri ve polidipsi en sık gözlemlenen klinik semptomlarıdır. Tümor hiperkalsemisi teşhisi anamnez, fiziksel muayene ve kan testlerine dayandırılarak konulur. Diürez, ilaç ve sıvı tedavileri sağaltımın temelidir. Altta yatan tümörün iyileştirilmesi sonucunda birçok hastanın yaşam kalitesini olumlu yönde etkiler
