An Investigation of Selenium Levels in Kilis Goats

Abstract

The number of Kilis goats bred in Turkey is about 11 million which corresponds to 25% of the goats bred in the country. These goats have adopted to the climatic conditions of the Southeastern Anatolia. This study aims to investigate selenium (Se) levels in serums of blood samples obtained from 12 healthy Kilis goats. The Se levels of the serums was measured by spectrofluorometric method and found to be 53.55 ±7.9 ng/ml. It is considered that the results of this study can be a reference to Kilis goats in this region as well as serves as a basis to other studies of Se levels of other goat groups.

Kilis Keçilerinde Serum Selenyum Düzeylerinin Araştırılması

Abstract

Türkiye'de yetiştirilen 11 milyon keçinin yaklaşık %25'ini Kilis keçisi oluşturmaktadır. Bu keçiler Güneydoğu Anadolu Bölgesinin iklim koşullarına adapte olmuşlardır. Bu çalışmanın amacı 12 sağlıklı Kilis keçisinden alınan kan örneklerinde serum Selenyum (Se) düzeylerinin araştırılmasıdır. Numunelerdeki serum Se düzeyleri spektroflorometrik yöntemle ölçüldü ve 53.55 ±7.9 ng/ml olarak bulundu. Çalışmanın sonuçları bölgede yetiştirilen diğer Kilis keçilerinde yapılacak çalışmalar için referans olabileceği gibi diğer keçi ırklarına ait yapılacak Se düzeyleri çalışmalarında da temel teşkil edebileceği kanısına varıldı.
