The Assessment of Relationship Between Foot Diseases and Care and Accommodation Conditions of Cattle at Kars Area

Abstract

This study was carried out with aims; to determine the care and accommodation conditions which can be cause to predispozisyon of foot diseases at cattle at the Kars area, by determination of the prevalans of foot diseases, to decrease at least the economic loss by notification of the cattle breeders with protective precautions. The study have been proceeded upon 2317 cattle which have different ages, breeds and sexuality and at the 280 case foot diseases were determined and 12.08 at% of foot disease are incidence. It was seen that the lameness took placed at ratio of 35.26 at % in left hind leg, at ratio of 31.21 at% in right hind leg, at ratio of 17.34 at% in left-front leg, 16.19 at% in rightfront leg. The most of lesions which observed at the hindlimbs took placed in the lateral nails (77.8 at%), on the other hand the observed at the front legs took placed in the medial nails (64.2 at%). The cases according to sexuality were determined at separation of 48.2 at% at male and 51.8 at% at female. The determined diseases from 2317 cases can be separated as; interdigital dermatitis 36.78 at%(103 cases), heel and sole bruises 9.64 at%(27 cases), bruised sole 9.28 at %(26 cases), digitalis dermatitis 5.35 at %(15 cases), white line diseases 2.85 at %(8 cases), fissured ungulae 1.78 at %(5 cases), interdigital flegmon 1.78 at %(5 cases), rusterholz ulcer 1.42 at%(4 cases), heel abscess 1.07 at%(3 cases), and at the 30.00 at% of cases (84 cases) only nail deformation is observed. The separation of nail deformations were determined as; 67 pointed hoof, 28 blunt hoof, 18 wide and spread hoof, 5 separated hoof and 2 scissor hoofs. As a result, the cattle breeders have not sufficiently took care about cow barn and its ground structure in managements in this area, the inform of producers with subjects deal with foot and nail care will be decreases the incidence of foot diseases
