Some Morphological Characteristics of Bozova Dogs (Gureh)
Abstract
This study was carried out to determine some morphological characteristics of Bozova dogs (Gureh) raised mostly
in Bozova town of Sanliurfa. The data were collected from 32 male and 12 female. Body weights, Measurements of height at
wither, body length, height at ramp, heart girth circumferences, chest depth, head length and wrist circumferences were carried
out. Regarding the morphological characteristics, Bozova dogs showed substantial similarities with Kangal dogs. To infer a
detailed relationship between Bozova dogs and Kangal dogs genetically studies should be carried out. Measures should be
taken in order to conserve these dogs which are well adapted to the environmental conditions of this region.
