The Incidence of Anomalies in Calves, Lambs and Goat Kids in the District of Nizip and Its Villages and Determination of Some Biochemical Parameters in These Cases

Abstract

This study aims to reveal the incidence of anomalies in the calves, lambs and goat kids in Nizip and its villages and to research the existence of correlation between congenital anomalies and trace element levels. The sample of this is comprised of 40 young animals and their mothers comprised of 29 calves, 3 lambs and 8 goat kids. Anomaly cases which were encountered were clinically examined and necessary cure applications were done on those which could be cured. It was determined that in serum levels of young animals with anomaly, when compared with those whose clinical and other examination findings are normal, high level of iron (Fe) is statistically significant (P< 0.05), and high level of magnesium (Mg) is statistically very high (P< 0.01). The difference between the levels of calcium, zinc and copper (Ca, Zn, Cu) serum were not statistically significant (P > 0.05). There wasn’t a significant difference between the levels of calcium, iron, magnesium, zinc and copper (Ca, Fe, Mg, Zn, Cu) of the mothers of the young animals which were determined to be healthy as a result of clinical and other examination findings and anomaly puppies’ mothers (P> 0.05). As a conclusion, it has been anomaly cases could demonstrate different incidences and there could be a correlation between congenital anomaly cases and levels of trace elements.
