The effect of different plant leaves on the in vitro methane production of Some Forages

Year 2014, Volume: 3 Issue: 2, 59 - 66, 01.06.2014

Abstract

This study was carried out to investigate the effect of addition different plant leaves Acacia (Robinia
pseudacacia), rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis), eucalyptus (Eucalyptus camaldulensis) and vine leaf (Vitis vinifera) (0%, 1%,
3%, 5% and 10%) on the in vitro methane production of some roughages (maize silage, alfalfa forage and wheat straw).
Methane and carbon dioxide production of 24 h incubated roughages inside the syringes were measured with injection of
produced gases into special apparatus connected to computer. The lowest methane (CH4) production was determined from
the increasing levels plant leaves containing treatments for all experimental roughages (P< 0.001). Similarly, methane
production was decreased with addition of plant leaves for the 10% level of all roughages (P< 0.001). Addition of these leaves
to roughages decreased the methane and carbon dioxide producitons with use of in vitro procedure. Furthermore effect of
these leaves on animal performance should be examined with in vivo studies.

Kimi Kaba Yemlerde Farklı Bitki Yapraklarının İn Vitro Metan Üretimi Üzerine Etkisi

Year 2014, Volume: 3 Issue: 2, 59 - 66, 01.06.2014

Abstract

officinalis), okaliptus (Eucalyptus camaldulensis) ve asma (Vitis vinifera) yapraklarının in vitro metan gazı üretimi üzerine
etkisini belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Farklı seviyelerde bitki yaprakları ilave edilmiş deneme yemleri in vitro gaz tekniği ile
üzerine etkilerinin in vivo yedirme çalışmaları ile incelenmesinin yararlı olacağı kanaatine varılmıştır.
