Abstract

In the present study, 564 serum samples collected from 6 indigenous bred sheep flocks in provincial centre of
Van and its districts were investigated for the presence and prevalence of spesific antibodies to bovine herpesvirus-1 (BHV-
1). Prevalence of antibodies detected against BHV-1 in sheep was found to be 1.4% (8/564) using virus neutralization (VN)
assay. The results of the present study reveal that seroprevalence of BHV-1 infection exists at low levels in indigenous bred
sheep in Van province of Turkey.

Abstract

Bu çalışmada, Van il merkezi ve ilçelerinde bulunan 6 adet yerli ırk koyun sürüsünden toplanan 564 adet kan serumu
örneğinde bovine herpesvirus-1 (BHV-1) spesifik antikorlarının varlığı ve prevalansı araştırıldı. Virus nötralizasyon (VN) testi
kullanılarak yapılan çalışmada serum örneklerinin %1.4 (8/564)’ünde BHV-1’e karşı spesifik nötralizan antikorlar belirlendi.
Araştırma verileri, Van ilindeki yerli ırk koyunlarda BHV-1 enfeksiyonu seroprevalansının düşük düzeyde olduğunu ortaya
koymuştur.
