Investigation of Canine Adenovirus (CAV) Antigen in Urine and Plasma Samples of Dog by ELISA
Abstract
Only serologic data are available in Turkey for the presence of canine adenovirus infections (CAV). This study was
aimed to investigate presence of CAV antigen in dogs in our country. For this purpose, total 36 urine and 36 plasma
samples were collected from healthy, different breed and gender dogs. Commercial ELISA kit was used for detection of CAV
antigen. CAV antigen was detected at 3/36 (8.3%) in plasma samples but no antigen was detected in urine samples.
Statistical significant differences were not observed among breed, age and gender related with CAV antigen situation
(p˃0.05). This study is the first report of CAV antigen presence in dogs at Turkey.
