Effects of Nitrofurazon Pomade and %1 Hydrogen Peroxide Cream Wound Healing on Japanese Quails (Coturnix Coturnix Japonica) and Comparative Evaluation of Antibacterial Properties

Abstract

In this study, 1% hydrogen peroxide cream formulation experimentally induced, without drug preparations in Turkey, according to nitrofurazon pomat in terms of wound healing time and antibacterial activity aimed to investigate the effect of superficial open wounds in Japanese quail. In the study 30 adult Japanese quails (cotunix coturnix japonica) for 42 days of age created animal material. The study was made up of three main groups, namely control group (Group I, n=10) any drug-untreated, hydrogen peroxide group (Grup II; n=10) applied 1% hidrojen peroksit cream and nitrofurazon group (Grup III; n=10) applied nitrofurazon pomade. Xylazine hydrochloride (8 mg/kg) and ketamine hydrochloride (50 mg/kg) were injected intramuscularly for anesthesia of the animals. After disinfection of wounds area as experimental wound in 1.5 cm diameter were created. All patients were followed from the established wound day until complete healing. It was observed that the avarage of recovery period of group I and III showed similarity but in group II the recovery period was longer than the other groups, istatisticaly. Staphylococcus spp and Streptococcus spp were isolated in all cases in microbiological analysis of samples from the wound line. The number of viable bacteria in samples of patients in group II was determined to be less than the other groups in 9th and 16th days. The results of this study; 1% hydrogen peroxide cream in terms of wound healing time was found to be statistically is formed later than the other groups. However, it has been concluded that antibacterial activity of 1% hydrogen peroxide cream in open wounds is better than nitrofurazona pomade, which is particularly popular.
