The Influence of Topically Applied Menengiç Oil and Glycerin Solution Japanese Quail (Coturnix Coturnix Japonica) on Wound Healing

Abstract

In study in quail the glycerin and turpentine oil, was conducted to compare the effects on wound healing. In study animal material as 42 days, 12 adult Japanese quail (Coturnix coturnix japonica) were used. The animals were divided into two groups, namely glycerin group (group I, n: 6) and turpentine group (group 2, n: 6). Approximately diameter of 1.5 cm experimental wound containing skin and connective tissue was created in the back of animals. Wounds on a daily basis by the group turpentine oil or glycerin were treated topically applying. Unhealed wound area was measured every day and for histopathological analysis, the third seventh, tenth and fourteenth days of biopsy samples taken. All patients in group turpentine have completed the twelfth day recovery, 2 of 6 patients in group glycerin on the sixth day, 2 of 6 patients in group glycerin on the seventeen day, 2 of 6 patients in group glycerin on the eighteen day that heal was determined. In terms of healing time compared it was detected that turpentine group was healed faster than glycerin group. In terms of wound size of the group turpentine 4th, 9th, 10th, and 11th days (P< 0.05) were smaller than in the group of glycerin. Looking at the impact on wound size was observed in both groups according to the time from the day 7 in the assessment of their statistical shrunk by more. In light of the obtained findings, it concluded that the topical application of turpentine oil have beneficial effects on wound healing has been reached.
