Sosyal Hizmet Öğrencilerinin İnsani Değer, Toplumsal İlgi Düzeyleri ve Suriyelilere Yönelik Tutumlarının Yabancı Düşmanlığına Etkisi

Abstract

Bu araştırmanın amacı sosyal hizmet öğrencilerinin insani değer, toplumsal ilgi düzeyleri ve Suriyelilere yönelik tutumlarının yabancı düşmanlığına etkisini belirlemektir. İlişkisel tarama modeliyle yapılan çalışmanın örneklemi Türkiye’de farklı üniversitelerin sosyal hizmet lisans programında öğrenin gören öğrencilerdir. Çalışma grubu 318’i kadın ve 60’ı erkek olmak üzere 378 öğrenciden oluşmaktadır. Veri toplama aracı olarak kişisel bilgi formu, Yerel Halkın Suriyelilere Yönelik Tutum Ölçeği, Yabancı Düşmanlığı (Zenofobi) Ölçeği, İnsani Değerler Ölçeği ve Toplumsal İlgi Ölçeği tercih edilmiştir. Elde edilen veriler SPSS paket programı ile analiz edilmiştir. Araştırmadan elde edilen veriler neticesinde İnsani Değerler Ölçeği ve Toplumsal İlgi Ölçeği’nden yüksek puan alan öğrencilerin yabancılara ve Suriyelilere karşı olumlu bir tutum içerisinde oldukları sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Cinsiyet değişkeni açısından ölçeklerin tamamında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir farklılık bulunmuştur (p<0.05). Kadın öğrencilerin İnsani Değerler Ölçeği ve Suriyelilere Yönelik Tutum Ölçeğinden aldıkları puan ortalaması erkeklerden yüksektir. Sınıf değişkeni açısından ise yabancı düşmanlığı düzeyi ile Suriyelilere yönelik tutum ölçeği arasında anlamlı bir faklılaşma bulunmuşken (p<0.005), toplumsal ilgi ve insani değerler ölçeği ortalama puanlarında anlamlı bir farklılık tespit edilememiştir (p>0.005). Yapılan çoklu regresyon analizi sonucuna göre toplumsal ilgi ve insani değerlerin yabancı düşmanlığı ve Suriyelilere Yönelik Tutum Ölçeği’ni anlamlı seviyede yordadığı görülmektedir. İnsani değer ve toplumsal ilgi düzeylerinin verilecek eğitimlerle sosyal hizmet öğrencilerinde pozitif yönde değişimler sağlayabileceği ve olumsuz tutumların en aza indirilebileceği ortaya konulmuştur.

Effect of Social Work Students’ Human Values, Social Interest, and Attitudes Towards Syrians on Xenophobia

Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the effect of social work students' human values, social interest levels and attitudes towards Syrians on xenophobia. The study was carried out using the relational screening model; the sample consists of the students studying in the social work undergraduate programs of different universities across Turkey. The data collection tool employed is a survey form consisting of a personal information form, An Attitude Scale Towards Syrians, The Scale of Xenophobia, Human Values Scale and Social Interest Scale. The data obtained from the research have led to the conclusion that the students who received high scores from the Human Values Scale and Social Interest Scale had positive attitudes towards foreigners and Syrians. A statistically significant difference was found in all scales in terms of the gender variable (p<0.05). Results of the multiple regression analysis reveal that social interest and human values significantly predict xenophobia and An Attitude Scale Towards Syrians. The study has demonstrated that trainings to be provided will ensure positive changes among social work students in terms of human values and social interest levels and help minimize negative attitudes.
