Bölgesel rekabetçilik, bir bölgenin sahip olduğu kaynaklar, altyapı, işgücü yetenekleri ve inovasyon kabiliyetleri gibi unsurları içerir. Bölgesel rekabetçilik, sadece ekonomik büyümeyi teşvik etmekle kalmaz, aynı zamanda işbirliği ve yenilikçiliği de teşvik eder. Bir bölgenin rekabetçiliğini artırmak için stratejiler geliştirilir. Bu noktadan hareketle, çalışmanın temel amacı, bölgesel rekabet edilebilirlik ile ilgili kapsamlı bir çerçeve çizilmesi ve konuya ilişkin yöntem ve teorilerin incelenmesidir. Çalışma, bölgesel rekabetçilik söylemini ilgili modeller ve teoriler bağlamında konumlandırmayı amaçlamakta; hem teorik bir bakış açısıyla literatürün incelenmesini içermekte ve bölgesel rekabetçiliğin daha somut bir kavramsallaştırılmasının çerçevelenmesine olanak tanımaktadır.
Regional competitiveness means that a region has and maintains an advantage over other regions. This concept covers the economic, social, cultural and political factors of a region. Regional competitiveness includes elements such as resources, infrastructure, workforce talents and innovation capabilities that a region has. Regional competitiveness not only stimulates economic growth but also encourages cooperation and innovation. Strategies are developed to increase the competitiveness of a region. These strategies include factors such as supporting local businesses, infrastructure investments, training and technology transfer. Additionally, regional cooperation and joint projects can also strengthen regional competitiveness. Collaboration between local governments, business and academic institutions is important to increase the competitiveness of a region. Sharing of knowledge and experience, development of joint projects and effective use of resources can be achieved among these stakeholders. Regional competitiveness not only stimulates economic growth but also supports sustainable development. Therefore, environmental factors, social justice and cultural diversity are also an important part of regional competitiveness strategies. From this point, the basic method of the study is to draw a comprehensive framework regarding regional competitiveness and to examine the methods and theories related to the subject. The study aims to situate the regional competitiveness discourse in the context of relevant models and theories; it includes both an examination of the literature from a theoretical perspective and allows for the framing of a more concrete conceptualization of regional competitiveness.
