Abstract

Turizm sektörünün yapısal bir özelliği olarak kabul edilen mevsimsellik kavramı sektörün en fazla göze çarpan özelliği ve turizm işletmecileri tarafından aşılması gereken bir sorun olarak algılanmaktadır. Turizm sektöründe mevsimselliğe neden olarak gösterilen temel durum ve olaylar bazı sonuçları da beraberinde getirmektedir. Bu sonuçlar arasında sektörde işgücü kullanım durumunu etkileyen “mevsimlik istihdam sorunu” sektör çalışanları ve işverenleri açısından önemli bir konudur. Bu çalışmada İzmir ilinde faaliyet gösteren konaklama işletmelerinde sürekli istihdam edilen çalışanlar ile mevsimlik istihdam edilen çalışanların örgütsel bağlılık düzeyleri karşılaştırılmakta ve sonuçlar incelenmektedir. Çalışmanın temel amacı mevsimlik istihdamın, sektör çalışanlarının örgütsel bağlılık düzeylerini hangi açılardan ve ne oranda etkilediğini değerlendirmektir

SEASONALITY, SEASONAL EMPLOYMENT AND ORGANIZATIONAL COMMITMENT: A RESEARCH IN LODGING ENTREPRISES

Abstract

The seasonality concept, which is accepted as a structural feature of tourism sector, is regarded as the most significant characteristic of the sector and as a great challenge to deal with. The main factors creating seasonality in tourism sector yield some consequences for employers and employees in the sector such as “seasonal employment” which has great impacts on labor usage in the sector. In this study a comparison is made between the organizational commitment levels of full-time and seasonal employees working at lodging enterprises in Izmir and the results are examined. The main aim of the study is to evaluate the impacts of seasonal employment on tourism employees’ organizational commitment levels
