ETHICAL PRINCIPLES AND PUBLICATION POLICY

Publication Ethics Disclosure

Dokuz Eylül University Journal of Faculty of Business (JFB) adheres to the highest standards in publishing ethics and is based on the ethical publishing principles prepared by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). After the article is submitted to the Journal, the name of any of the author(s) cannot be deleted from the list of authors of the article, a new name cannot be added as an author, and the order of authors cannot be changed without the written consent of all other authors.

Plagiarism, duplication, fraud authorship/denied authorship, research/data fabrication, article slicing, sliced publication, copyright infringement and concealment of conflict of interest are considered unethical behaviors.

All articles that do not comply with ethical standards are removed from publication. This also includes articles with possible irregularities and inconsistencies detected after publication.


Ethical Duties and Responsibilities of Authors

Among the ethical responsibilities of the author(s) are the following items:

  • To ensure that the submitted article is not published or accepted elsewhere.
  • If the content it presents matches the published or submitted content, accept this conflict and cite, if necessary, provide the editor with a copy of any study that may have similar content regarding his/her study, obtain permission to reproduce or use any content from other sources, give reference.
  • To ensure the accuracy of the data related to the study, to keep the records of the research in order and to be able to access this data upon a possible request.
  • In case of any conflict of interest, to share this with the editor and publisher when he/she detects an ethical violation regarding his/her article, to publish an error statement, addendum, compensation notice or to withdraw the study when deemed necessary.
  • To ensure that the submitted article is suitable for the purpose and scope of the journal.


Ethical Duties and Responsibilities of Editors

Among the ethical responsibilities of the editors are the following items:

  • To act in a balanced, objective and fair manner in the performance of their duties without discrimination on the basis of gender, religion, political beliefs, ethnic or geographical origin of the authors.
  • To evaluate the studies submitted to the journal according to their content and not to give any privilege to any author.
  • To take necessary measures to prevent possible conflicts of interest and to evaluate existing statements, if any.
  • Treating sponsored study or study on special topics in the same way as other studies.
  • To implement the necessary procedures in accordance with the journal’s policies and procedures in case of a complaint in the nature of an ethical violation. Giving the authors an opportunity to respond to the complaint and not avoiding the necessary sanctions, regardless of who the study belongs to.
  • To reject the submitted study if it is not suitable for the purpose and scope of the journal.


Ethical Duties and Responsibilities of Reviewers

Among the ethical responsibilities of the reviewers are the following items:

  • To review the article in a timely manner objectively and to agree to evaluate only studies related to the area of expertise, in order to contribute to the editor’s decision-making process.
  • To make the evaluation objectively only in relation to the content of the study. To evaluate the study without considering religious, political and economic interests.
  • To provide guidance to help improve the quality of the article to be published and to examine the study meticulously. To convey his/her comments to the author in a constructive and kind language.
  • To protect the confidentiality of the information provided by the editor and the author, to destroy the study after the evaluation process in accordance with the confidentiality principle, to notify the editor if there is a situation contrary to blind refereeing and not to evaluate the study.
  • To be aware of potential conflicts of interest (financial, institutional, collaborative or other relationships between author and author) and alert the editor to withdraw their assistance for the relevant article if necessary.


Open Access Policy

Dokuz Eylül University Journal of Faculty of Business (JBF) is an open access journal. The journal offers all its content free of charge to the readers, writers and the institution that the readers are involved in. Readers can access the articles in this journal from search engines, websites, blogs and other digital platforms. No subscription fee, publication fee or similar payment is requested by the journal for access to electronic resources. Articles in the journal can be used as long as the author and original source are cited. No permissions are required from authors or publishers.

Dokuz Eylül University Journal of Faculty of Business (JBF) adopts the Creative Commons attribution license. This license allows other authors to use your study in their own study for non-commercial purposes and by attribution to your study.


Plagiarism Policy

Plagiarism is an ethical violation, regardless of whether it is intentional or not. Similarity of studies with other sources without reference and publishing them in this form is not only unethical, but also a crime and unacceptable. The Editorial Board of Dokuz Eylül University Journal of Faculty of Business (JBF) can act in accordance with the ethical publishing principles prepared by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) in the face of plagiarism, citation manipulation and data fraud allegations and suspicions regarding the studies submitted to the journal. While the studies are sent to the journal, the Plagiarism/Similarity Report should be taken and uploaded to the system in pdf format. Similarity Report should be taken only by using ıThenticate or Turnitin programs and “Excluding References”.


Copyright Transfer

The studies submitted to Dokuz Eylül University Journal of Faculty of Business for publication must not have been published anywhere before, have not been sent to another place for publication, and must have the characteristics of an original study. When submitting their study, individuals are obliged to declare that the study has not been published, partially or completely, on any other platform before and has not been evaluated for publication. In case of a contrary situation, the author will be held responsible for the situation in accordance with the relevant sanctions. Author(s) must obtain permission from the owner when using previously published content, including ancillary images, tables, or any other content in print or electronic format. Legal, financial, and penal responsibility in this matter belong to the authors.

Author(s) who will submit a study to Dokuz Eylül University Journal of Faculty of Business should fill out the Copyright Transfer Form presented on the journal page. The author(s) must sign the completed form with a wet ink signature. The signed form must be uploaded to the system in pdf format during the first submission to the journal.


Ethics Committee Approval and Other Legal/Special Permission Documents

For all kinds of research conducted with qualitative or quantitative approaches that require data collection from the participants using survey, interview, focus group study, observation, experiment, interview techniques, the Ethics Committee Decision must be uploaded to the system in pdf format together with the article. In addition, it is obligatory to include the Ethics Committee Decision information in the article (from which institution, on which date and with which decision or issue number the permission was obtained). Obtaining Informed Consent Form in case reports; For the use of scales, questionnaires, and photographs belonging to others, permission must be obtained from the owners and these permissions must be stated in the article.


Conflict of Interest

Author(s) should avoid entering into deals with both for-profit and non-profit sponsors as far as possible which restrict access to all data of the study or interfere with their capabilities of analyzing data, interpreting, preparing articles, publishing, etc. In order to avoid conflicts of interest, editors should avoid bringing together people who may have a relationship during the evaluation of studies. Individuals should inform the editorial board about possible conflicts of interest so that the articles can be evaluated within the framework of ethical principles and an independent process can be carried out. The Editorial Board of the Journal works devotedly to carry out the evaluation process in an impartial manner, taking all these situations into account.

Author(s) who will submit a study to Dokuz Eylül University Journal of Faculty of Business must fill in the Author Form presented on the journal page. The author(s) must sign the completed form with a wet ink signature. The signed form must be uploaded to the system in pdf format during the first submission to the Journal.


Evaluation and Publication Process of the Journal

Studies submitted to Dokuz Eylül University Journal of Faculty of Business are pre-checked by the Journal Editor’s Secretariat. At this stage, the compliance of the relevant article with the publication principles, the compatibility of its content with the scope of the journal, its compliance with the journal writing rules, the similarity rate are evaluated and it is checked whether the necessary forms and reports related to the study are uploaded to the system. The checked article is again forwarded to the editor for pre-check. If the study is not suitable for the journal, it is rejected. Depending on the subject, the members of the editorial board can be consulted for eligibility and evaluation in order to obtain more scientific evaluation of the article. Studies that are worthy of peer review are assigned to at least two blind referees who are experts in the relevant field selected by the journal editor to carry out the scientific evaluation process. In the process, a double-blind peer-review system is adopted, and the identities of the referees and authors are kept confidential. Reviewers advise the editor to “accept the article as is”, “minor or major revisions needed” or “reject”. In case of disagreement among the reviewers, the article can be sent to more reviewers for further review. The journal editor makes the final evaluation in line with the information received from the referees and sends the referee reports to the authors. The article can only be taken to the publication stage after the necessary revisions are made by the author. The evaluation process starts again for the studies that are requested to be corrected in the final evaluation stage. The total time targeted for the evaluation process is 75 days. When deemed necessary, the editor of the journal may consult the editorial board in line with the results of the referee evaluation, upon the publication of a study submitted to the journal.

Considerations during the evaluation process:

  • The studies submitted to the journal have not been published elsewhere and have not been accepted for publication.
  • The original contribution of the study to the relevant field, the extent to which this contribution was expressed and justified in the study.
  • Statement of the research question and the purpose of the study, how it is justified, whether the study constitutes a whole in line with this purpose.
  • The conformity of the theoretical framework of the study with the systematic of scientific study, the degree to which the study focuses on its aims, the extent to which the basic concepts, variables, processes and causal relationships are explained, and the extent to which the study supports the basic assumptions and hypotheses, if any.
  • How the assumptions and hypotheses of the study, if any, are put forward, whether they are clearly expressed, whether they are suitable for the purposes of the study, and whether they are supported by sufficient and strong arguments.
  • The extent to which the study benefits from the relevant literature, uses the resources that can be defined as primary sources on the subject appropriately, and whether it contains the necessary discussions adequately.
  • If any research is being carried out to support the basic assumptions/hypotheses of the study, whether this research is adequately explained, the methodology used is appropriate in terms of purposes, basic assumptions and, if any, hypotheses are tested.
  • Whether the findings of the study are adequately explained, to what extent the findings and their reflections are discussed, to what extent the main limitations of the study are mentioned, whether scientific and practical inferences are made as a result of the study.
  • Whether the study was prepared with a systematic in accordance with the scientific study systematic.
  • Adequacy of the summary of the study, the extent to which it contains the elements of purpose, basic assumption, method, finding, conclusion, etc., whether it gives enough information about the whole of the study, the clarity and simplicity of the language used.
  • Compliance of the study with scientific writing rules.
  • Consistency of the title with the content of the article.
  • The intelligibility of the language used in the article and its compliance with the spelling rules in the relevant language.
  • Understandability of the tables and figures used and their suitability for the purposes of the study. 

Author(s) can withdraw their studies without giving reasons during the pre-check phase. Author(s) who wish to withdraw their work after the pre-check phase, must fill out the Retraction Form in which they will declare their reasons, and upload the document signed by each author included in the study to the DergiPark system.
