Yaşlı Nüfus ile Sağlık Harcamaları Arasındaki İlişkinin İncelenmesi: Panel Veriye Dayalı Bir Uygulama

Year 2021, Issue: 26, 314 - 324, 30.04.2021

Abstract

Investigation of The Relationship Between Elderly Population and Health Expenditure: An Application Based on Panel Data

Year 2021, Issue: 26, 314 - 324, 30.04.2021

Abstract

The relationship between elderly population and health expenditure has recently become a hot topic. Therefore in this study, the relationship between per capita health expenditure and proportion of elderly population was investigated. The data of the study consisted of 36 European countries’ data between 2000 and 2014. Panel ordinary least squares was used for the purpose of the study. As a result of the study, it was found out that health expenditure per capita and elderly population ratio mutually affected each other. The increase in the elderly population raito may increase health expenditure per capita and taking more advantage of health care services as a result of more health expenditure may also increase the elderly population raito due to the increases in life expectancy at birth.
