Abstract

Poverty is a major social and economic problem in the world. Governments and policymakers aim to eliminate this problem in all its forms and everywhere. However, when we look at the literature on poverty, it is known that it is not a new concept and that poverty exists even in very old communities. In other words, escaping poverty is still at the top of the world's development agenda. The effects of the tourism sector on the economy have been revealed by different studies. However, the role of tourism in eliminating poverty is still being discussed in different aspects all over the world. The study conducted revealed the relationship between tourism revenues and poverty risk. In this context, France and Spain, which have the highest tourism revenues in Europe, were focused on. As a result of the research, it was seen that there was no causality between France's tourism revenue and the gini coefficient, poverty risk and per capita gross domestic product. However, when the variables belonging to Spain were examined, it was seen that there was causality between tourism revenue and the per capita gross domestic product variable. However, it was determined that there was no causality between tourism revenue and the gini coefficient and the poverty risk.

Turizm Gelirleri Ve Yoksulluk Riski Arasındaki İlişkiyi Belirlemeye Yönelik Bir Araştırma

Abstract

Gerçekleştirilen çalışmada turizm gelirleri ile yoksulluk riski arasındaki ilişki ortaya konmuştur. Bu kapsamda Avrupa’da en fazla turizm gelirine sahip olan Fransa ve İspanya’ya odaklanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda Fransa’nın turizm geliri ile gini katsayısı, yoksulluk riski ve kişi başı gayri safi yurt içi hasıla arasında herhangi bir nedenselliğin olmadığı görülmüştür. Bununla birlikte İspanya’ya ait değişkenlere bakıldığında turizm geliri ile kişi başı gayri safi yurt içi hasıla değişkeni arasında nedenselliğin olduğu görülmüştür. Ancak turizm geliri ile gini katsayısı ve yoksulluk riski arasında bir nedenselliğin olmadığı tespit edilmiştir.
