İşyerinde Nöroçeşitlilik: Farklı Zihinlerin Gücü

Abstract

Neurodiversity in The Workplace: The Power of Different Minds

Abstract

Workplaces are spaces where individuals with diverse thinking patterns, personalities, and working styles come together. This diversity should be viewed not as a challenge but as a valuable source of originality and enrichment in the business world. Neurodiverse individuals, characterized by neurological differences such as autism, dyslexia, and attention deficit disorders, contribute significantly to this diversity. These differences should not be perceived as disorders but rather as a natural and rich part of human variation. When supported with inclusive policies and strategies, neurodiverse individuals can offer substantial potential for driving innovation and competitive advantage in organizations. This study, one of the first academic steps in Türkiye regarding neurodiversity, aims to highlight the contributions of neurodiverse individuals to the workforce. It examines the definition, scope, theoretical foundations, and presence of neurodiversity in academic literature, along with its implications for the business sector. Furthermore, the study explores how neurodiverse individuals can be evaluated within human resource practices, emphasizing their role as a source of enrichment and diversity rather than a cost factor. The study highlights the importance of enhancing the visibility of neurodiverse individuals in professional settings and implementing inclusive policies to achieve meaningful benefits for both individuals and organizations.
