Caesarean section is a life-saving procedure when natural delivery is not possible. However, as with other surgical procedures, it may cause many risks related to anesthesia and surgical procedure, and many problems and complications that may occur after the intervention. Pain, which is one of the problems that may be experienced after cesarean operation, puts the mother in distress in the postpartum period. The mother may experience many problems such as not being able to perform daily normal activities, difficulty in caring for herself and her baby, and delay in mother-infant interaction. It is important for nurses to use the care process effectively in pain management and to include diagnostic, pharmacological and non-pharmacological pain relief methods in nursing interventions and to evaluate the results. In this review, the importance of pain management after cesarean section and the nursing care process for pain management are discussed.
