The Turkish Validity and Reliability of the Scale for Evaluating Verbal Presentations of Nursing Students

Abstract

Aim: The aim of this study was to determine the Turkish validity and reliability of the scale for evaluating nursing students' oral presentations.
Method: This methodological study was conducted with 322 nursing students at a university in eastern Turkey between 10.12.2022-20.02.2023. Personal information form and Oral Presentation Evaluation Scale were used to collect the data. For the construct validity of the scale, explanatory and confirmatory factor analyses as well as convergent and divergent validity analyses were performed, respectively. Internal consistency coefficient, item-total correlation and intraclass correlation coefficient were used for scale reliability.
Results: It was found that the scale met the language and content validity. According to the explanatory factor analysis, it was determined that the scale consisted of three sub-dimensions. The factor loadings of the scale were found to be between 0.628-0.879. In the confirmatory factor analysis conducted to verify the factor structure, it was determined that the fit indices of the three-factor structure were at acceptable values. Cronbach's alpha internal consistency coefficient was 0.90 and the intraclass correlation coefficient was 0.82.
Conclusion: It was determined that the Turkish validity and reliability of the oral presentation evaluation scale of nursing students was provided.

Hemşirelik Öğrencilerinin Sözel Sunumlarını Değerlendirme Ölçeğinin Türkçe Geçerlilik ve Güvenilirliği

Abstract

Amaç: Bu araştırmanın amacı, hemşirelik öğrencilerinin sözel sunumlarını değerlendirme ölçeğinin Türkçe geçerlilik ve güvenilirliğinin yapılmasıdır.
Yöntem: Metodolojik tipte yürütülen bu araştırma Türkiye’nin doğusunda yer alan bir üniversitedeki 322 hemşirelik öğrencisi ile 10.12.2022-20.02.2023 tarihleri arasında yapılmıştır. Verilerin toplanmasında kişisel bilgi formu ve Sözel Sunum Değerlendirme Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Ölçeğin yapı geçerliliği için sırasıyla; açıklayıcı ve doğrulayıcı faktör analizlerinin yanı sıra yakınsak ve ıraksak geçerlilik analizi yapılmıştır. Ölçek güvenilirliği için iç tutarlılık katsayısı, madde toplam korelasyonu ve sınıf içi korelasyon katsayısı kullanılmıştır.
Bulgular: Ölçeğin dil ve kapsam geçerliliğini sağladığı saptanmıştır. Yapılan açıklayıcı faktör analizine göre ölçeğin üç alt boyuttan oluştuğu saptanmıştır. Ölçeğe ait faktör yüklerinin 0,628-0,879 arasında olduğu belirlenmiştir. Faktör yapısının doğrulanması için yapılan doğrulayıcı faktör analizinde üç faktörlü yapıya ait uyum indekslerinin kabul edilebilir değerlerde olduğu saptanmıştır. Ölçeğe ait cronbach alfa iç tutarlılık katsayısının 0,90 olduğu ve sınıf içi korelasyon katsayısının ise 0,82 olduğu saptanmıştır.
Sonuç: Hemşirelik öğrencilerinin sözel sunum değerlendirme ölçeğinin Türkçe geçerlilik ve güvenilirliği sağladığı saptanmıştır.
