Many studies of the effectiveness of comprehensive geriatric assessments involve a social worker on the assessment team, whose role is typically to identify and address the needs of social and community life. This article was written to study the social evaluation of elderly patients, the role of social workers in this evaluation, the impact on health of microsocial problems or social functions, the role of formal or informal social networks, social support, social isolation, loneliness.
