The Role of Leader Support in the Relationship Between Work-Family Conflict and Emotional Labor: A Research in Education Sector

Abstract

In today’s competitive environments, the interaction between working life and family life has increased. Direct and indirect influences posed onto the family from the job and onto the job from the family constitute an effect on workers’ attitudes and behaviors. The importance of emotions in working life has increased and they affect workers’ performances. In this context; an empirical study has been conducted in education sector for the purpose of observing the conflict between the working life and the family life; its correlation to emotional labor and the effect of the leader as a mediator in this relationship. The results of the study indicate a correlation between the work–family conflict and emotional labor and that leader support does not play a mediatory role in this correlation.
