In the nineteenth century, although the Ottoman state made many state-led initiatives in order to realize economic development and to reach the level of European states, it did not achieve the necessary success. For this reason, the belief that the country will be realized in the direction of the enterprise in order to realize the economic development has arisen. The writings of the Ottoman intellectuals were published in the press in order to instill a number of people's psychology. One of these writers is Ahmet Mithat Efendi. Ahmet Mithat became aware of the need for hard-working people in the country's economic development, and in his writings wanted the public to enumerate in private enterprise activities rather than civil servants. He emphasized in his novels that people will have many fortunes from scratch. Most of the other novel characters of Ahmet Mithat, especially Râkım Efendi, are the hardworking types that meet the number of private enterprises. In Ahmet Mithat, the emphasis is on the wisdom of those who accumulate wealth and who have the ambition to earn money, rather than those who increase their welfare in their lives and in the lives of others in the society.
