İş-Aile Suçluluğu Ölçeği’nin Türkçe’ye Uyarlanması: Geçerlik ve Güvenirlik Çalışması

Year 2025, Volume: 12 Issue: 1, 53 - 69, 23.04.2025

Abstract

Adaptation of Work-Family Guilt Scale into Turkish: Validity and Reliability Study

Year 2025, Volume: 12 Issue: 1, 53 - 69, 23.04.2025
https://doi.org/10.18394/iid.1544878

Abstract

This study aims to adapt the Work-Family Guilt Scale, developed by McElwain (2008), into Turkish and examine its psychometric properties. In the first study, 430 participants (9.1% private sector; 89.3% public sector and 1.6% self-employed), including 235 women and 195 men, were involved in the factor analysis and reliability testing. In the second study, to test confirmatory factor analysis and criterion validity, data were analyzed with a total of 218 participants (%14.2 private sector; %84.4 public sector and %1.4 self-employed), 133 women and 85 men. Work-Family Conflict Scale was used for criterion validity. As a result of the analyses, it is seen that the WFGS-TR form has two main dimensions, work-family guilt and family-work guilt, which determine the direction of guilt as in the original scale. Each sub-dimension consisted of three sub-factors defining the physical, emotional and psychological guilt. This adaptation contributes to the literature determining the guilt that white-collar employees may experience at work
