Analyze Of Undergraduate Students’ Expectation and Satisfaction for Production Management Course in Business Administration Department

Abstract

Universities have the duty of transferring the present knowledge as well as searching new ones. The quality of education affects the success of graduates in practice but also the enthusiasm of present students for participation to lessons, learning and developing themselves. We as academicians should spend our energy and work to reach the students, update the contents and methods of our lessons according to students’ expectations and requests as well as research new knowledge. The aim of this study is defining the expectation and satisfaction level of undergraduate students about Production Management course in business administration department in public universities in İstanbul. The population of the study is undergraduate students in business administration departments in public universities in İstanbul. The research method is to survey by reaching the whole population and to evaluate the results about their satisfaction level and other characteristics. The questionnaire consists of two parts that are about the students’ thoughts before they took the course and their satisfaction after they took the course. As a result of the evaluation 4 factors affecting the expectations and satisfaction of the students related to Production Management course are defined: “Gains”, “Satisfaction”, “Academic” and “Lecturer”. For all factors, it was determined that the students' thoughts changed positively after taking Production Management course. Even so, production department is at the end of the ranking where the students who participated in the survey thought that they would work in the future.

İşletme Bölümü Öğrencilerinin Üretim Yönetimi Derslerine İlişkin Beklenti ve Memnuniyet Analizi

Öz

Üniversiteler akademik çalışmalarıyla yeni bilgiler yaratmak ve mevcut bilgileri öğrencilere aktarma görevi olan kurumlardır. Üniversitede verilen eğitimin kalitesi, buradan mezun olan öğrencilerin alanlarındaki başarısını etkilediği kadar, eğitimi devam eden öğrencilerin de derslere katılım, öğrenme ve kendini geliştirme şevkini etkileyen bir unsurdur. Öyleyse biz akademisyenler yeni bilgilere ulaşmaktaki enerji ve çabamızı öğrencilere ulaşmakta ve onların istek ve beklentilerini de dikkate alarak eğitim yöntem ve içeriğimizi güncelleme konusunda da göstermeliyiz. Bu çalışmanın amacı İstanbul’daki devlet üniversitelerinde İşletme Bölümü lisans öğrencilerinin Üretim Yönetimi derslerine ilişkin beklenti ve memnuniyet düzeylerini belirlemektir. Araştırmanın anakütlesi, İstanbul’daki devlet üniversitelerinde İşletme Bölümü lisans öğrencilerinden oluşmaktadır. Araştırma yöntemi olarak saha çalışması kullanılmış ve anakütlenin tamamına gidilerek öğrencilerin dersi almadan önceki düşüncelerini ve aldıktan sonraki memnuniyetlerini ölçmeye yönelik olarak iki kısımdan oluşan bir anket uygulanmıştır. Anket sonuçları değerlendirildiğinde, Üretim Yönetimi dersine ilişkin öğrencilerin beklenti ve memnuniyetlerini etkileyen 4 faktör tanımlanmıştır: “Kazanımlar”, “Memnuniyet”, “Akademik” ve “Öğretim Üyesi”. Tüm faktörler için Üretim Yönetimi dersini aldıktan sonra öğrencilerin düşüncelerinin olumlu yönde değişiklik gösterdiği belirlenmiştir. Yine de ankete katılan öğrencilerin ileride çalışmayı düşündükleri alan yanıtlarında üretim bölümü en sonda gelmektedir.
