Determination of the Relationship between Precipitation and Temperature Regimes and Protein Content in Safflower (Carthamus tinctorius L.) Genotypes

Abstract

Genotype x environment interactions are one of the important factors in finding and selecting stable and high quality varieties in safflower breeding programs. Protein ratio is technically a secondary quality parameter in oilseeds but economically important in terms of feed production. This study was conducted with 20 safflower genotypes in 1 locations in Bolu and 2 different locations in Ankara (Yenimahalle and Gölbaşı) in 2016 and 2017. In order to determine the effect of precipitation and temperature during flowering and ripening periods on the protein ratio in safflower seeds, correlation analysis was performed between the temperature and precipitation amounts in 6 different environments (2 years x 3 locations) and the seed protein ratios. In this study, it was determined that the highest mean of seed protein ratio in 6 environments was genotype 133 with 14.53% and the lowest was genotype 163 with 11.9% It has been determined that safflower seed protein ratios have a positive correlation with June rainfall and May temperature average, and a negative correlation with July and August precipitation.

Aspir (Carthamus tinctorius L.) Genotiplerinde Yağış ve Sıcaklık Rejimleri ile Protein İçeriği İlişkisinin Belirlenmesi

Abstract

Aspir ıslah programlarında stabil ve kaliteli çeşitlerin bulunması ve seçilmesinde genotip x çevre etkileşimleri dikkate alınan önemli faktörlerden biridir. Protein oranı, yağlı tohumlarda teknik olarak ikincil değerlendirilen ancak yem üretimi bakımından ekonomik anlamda çok önemli bir kalite parametresidir. Bu çalışma, 2016 ve 2017 yıllarında Bolu’da 1 ve Ankara’da 2 farklı lokasyonda (Yenimahalle ve Gölbaşı) 20 aspir genotipi ile yürütülmüştür. Aspir tohumlarındaki protein oranına çiçeklenme ve olgunlaşma dönemlerindeki yağış ve sıcaklık miktarlarının etkisini belirlemek için farklı çevredeki sıcaklık ve yağış miktarları ile tohum protein oranları arasında toplu olarak korelasyon analizi yapılmıştır. Çalışmamızda 6 çevreye ait (2 yıl x 3 lokasyon) tohum protein oranı ortalaması en yüksek %14.53 ile 133 No’lu genotip, en düşük ise %11.9 ile 163 No’lu genotip olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Aspir tohumu protein oranlarının Haziran ayı yağış miktarları ve Mayıs ayı sıcaklık ortalaması ile pozitif, Temmuz ve Ağustos ayı yağışları ile ise negatif bir korelasyona sahip olduğu tespit edilmiştir.
