THE REFLECTION OF MYTHOLOGICAL ELEMENTS AND SYMBOLS IN TURKISH MYTHOLOGY IN THE WORKS OF MEHMET

Abstract

Throughout history, art has been both a means of communication for human beings and has made the ordinary flow of human life more meaningful. While the works that people made due to their needs in the early days were enriched with symbols through various communication ways, they developed with the concepts of art and artwork. Artists have given life to many works of art by nourishing the human spirit with art. Many elements, symbols and various concepts in the works of the artists gave various messages to the audience and thus contributed to their communication with them. Many artists used myths for the messages they tried to convey in their works and conveyed these messages to their audiences. Myths that mirror the past of societies; It is derived from the Greek words “Mythos” meaning story and “Logos” meaning word. Myths are stories that include the life adventures of gods, heroes, fairies and giants believed by many different nations in the past. In this way, information about the origin of human life, gods, natural events and legendary subjects can be reached through myths and symbols. Because myths are products of common cultural heritage in every society. It is known that the relations between cultures can be revealed through myths. These mythological elements play a major role in shaping cultures. In the research, there are evaluations such as how the mythological elements and symbols in Turkish mythology gain meaning in Mehmet Uygun's works and what impressions the symbols can leave on the audience. The works of Mehmet Uygun have been tried to be interpreted by analyzing them with their mythological meanings. Necessary permission was obtained from Mehmet Uygun regarding the article, and this research was carried out using descriptive method and scanning model.
