Abstract

Abstract

The aim of this study is to investigate the direct effect of participative leadership on psychological empowerment and work engagement, as well as the moderating effect of perceived organizational support on the aforementioned relationships. To test the hypotheses of the study, a survey has been conducted on 276 respondents working in the private sector in Istanbul. Regression analyses have been undertaken in order to test the hypothesized relationships. The findings of the study reveal that participative leadership has a positive effect on psychological empowerment and work engagement, and perceived organizational support moderates the two aforementioned relationships in such a way that higher levels of perceived organizational support increase the direct effect of participative leadership on the dependent variables of psychological empowerment and work engagement.
