Cyber-Physical Architecture for Urban Drainage Digital Twins: A Methodological Handbook Integrating AutoCAD Civil 3D and SewerGEMS

Öz

Dynamic management of urban drainage networks necessitates the integration of cyber-physical systems to overcome the limitations of static design approaches. This study presents a universal technical handbook that combines the topological integrity of AutoCAD Civil 3D with the full dynamic modeling capacity of the SewerGEMS platform. The methodology systematizes topological data integration in a step-by-step manner, incorporating the numerical configuration where Saint-Venant equations are solved via a four-point implicit finite difference scheme and the Newton-Raphson iteration method. The study defines the integration protocol of Extended Period Simulation (EPS) and SCADA-based continuous multipliers, necessary for the system to evolve into a living digital twin (living DT) form, as a technical procedure. The sensitivity of the Kutter formulation in detecting sedimentation risks, which resolves the non-linear interaction between roughness and energy gradient especially in low-slope lines, is emphasized. In the hydrodynamic control phase, occupancy rates exceeding the 70-80% threshold and flow velocities falling below 0.50-0.60 m/s are identified as primary operational risk indicators regarding corrosion, gas accumulation, and capacity loss. This guide establishes a proactive decision support mechanism that prioritizes rehabilitation strategies, such as cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) and egg-shaped pipe optimization, through what-if scenarios. This integrated approach offers a resilient and universal engineering standard for sustainable urban infrastructure management.
