Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Tools

The International Journal of Educational Studies and Policy (IJESP) acknowledges the increasing role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in academic research and writing. While the use of AI-based tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Grammarly, or other large language models and automated assistants) is not prohibited, their application must be transparent, ethical, and clearly declared.

If any AI tool has been used during any stage of the research process—including but not limited to writing, editing, literature review, summarization, translation, data analysis, or figure/table generation—authors are required to explicitly state:
  • Which AI tools were used?
  • At what stage they were employed, and
  • For what purpose they were utilized.

This declaration must be included in the “AI Use Statement” section of the manuscript, typically placed either before the reference list or in a dedicated section on the title page.

AI tools cannot be listed as authors under any circumstances. Authorship requires accountability and the ability to take responsibility for the content—qualities that AI systems do not possess.

  • Authors bear full responsibility for any content generated or modified by AI tools, including potential inaccuracies, misrepresentations, or bias.
  • Use of AI tools to manipulate data, generate false results, or fabricate content will be considered a serious ethical violation and treated accordingly.
  • By submitting a manuscript, authors confirm their understanding and compliance with this policy.
