OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY IN TURKISH CHEMICAL INDUSTRY

Abstract

Chemical industry is accepted as a risky sector in terms of occupational health and safety. For this reason, if the necessary corrective and preventive actions are taken, it helps not only strengthen the workers health and safety conditions but also prevents economic losses due to the temporary and permanent workforce loss or deadly work accidents, improving productivity. In this study, the reasons of work accidents and occupational diseases in chemical industry are tired to be determined and emphasizing the necessary preventive actions for government, employee and employer. In addition to that it is tested whether accident rate and occupational diseases are correlated with the capacity utilization rate in chemical industry. It is investigated with regression model and it is found that there is a positive relation between capacity utilization rate and work accidents at %10 significance level

Türkiye Kimya Sanayinde İşçi Sağlığı ve İş Güvenliği

Abstract

Kimya sanayi işçi sağlığı ve iş güvenliği açısından riskli bir sektördür. Bu nedenle bu sektörde alınacak önlemlerle sadece işçilerin sağlığı ve güvenliği emniyet altına alınmayacak, aynı zamanda geçici ve sürekli iş göremezlikten ya da ölümden kaynaklanan işgünü kayıplarının neden olabileceği ekonomik kayıpların önüne geçilerek verimlilik artışı sağlanacaktır. Bu çalışmada, kimya sanayinde görülen iş kazaları ve meslek hastalıklarının nedenleri tespit edilip işverene, işçiye ve devlete yönelik alınması gereken tedbirler üzerinde durulmuştur. İş kazaları ve meslek hastalıklarındaki artışın bir nedeni olarak kapasite kullanım oranı görüldüğünden kapasite kullanım oranı ile kimya sanayindeki iş kazaları arasındaki ilişki regresyon analizi ile araştırılmış ve kapasite kullanım oranı ile iş kazası arasında %10 anlamlılık düzeyinde pozitif yönlü bir ilişki bulunmuştur.
